Trips and Visits 2023-24

Thursday 18th July – Woodland Walk and Picnic

As part of Knightsfield Activities Week, the whole school enjoyed a walk to a nearby wood, where pupils built shelters, had a picnic and undertook other fun activities and games. A great end to the school year.

Friday 12th July – Stanborough Lakes

All pupils (Years 5-10)  enjoyed an activity fun-filled day Stanborough Lakes on Friday 12th July. All students were able to try Paddle-Boarding; worked on their team-building skills in a Raft Building session; and also enjoyed an orienteering course. All pupils threw themselves into the tasks and a thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all.

Friday 5th July – University of Hertfordshire Careers Event for Y10

Year 10 students visited the University of Hertfordshire on July 5th. They had 4 different activities indoors and outdoors to learn how engaging studying at universities can be. Students discovered there are 130 universities and around 50 000 courses  in the UK. Most of all students enjoyed planetarium, art and craft session and meeting the therapeutic dog Poppy. That was fun.

Wednesday 3rd July – Deaf Schools National Athletics Championships 

A selection of pupils from across the school were selected to take part in this annual event. Habibah and Boran acted as great leaders for the other pupils during the trip and we are delighted to say Knightsfield School came a brilliant 2nd in the event! Well done to all pupils who competed.

Tuesday 2nd July – Year 5/6 Food & Farming Day at Herts County Show

Our Year 5/6 had a very enjoyable day at Hertfordshire County Showground for a Food & Framing Day, giving them greater understanding of farming, food production and the countryside. There were a number of activities and demonstrations throughout the day, including a dog and duck show, as well as many exhibitors to visit. A great and informative day was had by all.

Tuesday 25th June – Verulamium Park, St Albans Abbey

Year 7’s enjoyed a trip to the Roman Museum and Verulamium Park in order to support their learning in Geography and History. They also had a look inside St Albans Cathedral and were excited to see a tapestry about William the Conqueror which they have also been learning about recently!

Monday 24th June – Thorpe Park

As we bid farewell to our Year 11s, they celebrated one last day altogether with their form tutors Mrs Sylvester and Ms Sounni, as well as Teaching Assistants Mrs Brake and Mr Jones, enjoying the highs and lows of the rollercoasters at Thorpe Park. A great day was had by all in the sunshine! We will miss you Year 11!

 

Monday 17th June – Hertfordshire Zoo

On Monday 17th June, Year 5/6 enjoyed a day trip to Hertfordshire Zoo. The trip supported the children’s knowledge and learning connected with our science topic – Living Things and their Habitats

Tuesday 11th June – Year 7 Sports Experience Day (St Luke’s)

On Tuesday 11th June the year 7 students went to the sports experience day at St Luke’s school. The students took part in different activities such as Cricket, Dance, Football and lots of other fun activities. The students as well as having fun showed great teamwork and dedication in the different activities they took part in! Well done year 7!

Monday 10th June – Arsenal Football Club Deaf Awareness

Our students visited Arsenal Football Club to present a deaf awareness assembly.  This was presented to Arsenal’s coaching students and in return they played some games and matches. This was followed by a tour of the Emirates Stadium.

Our students were outstanding and we are incredibly proud of them. Arsenal fed back that they too thought our children were brilliant and have invited us back next year!

Thursday 6th June – Essex & Herts Air Ambulance

On Thursday 6th June, a selection of our students visited the Herts and Essex Air Ambulance base in Epping. We wanted to find out how this extremely worthwhile charity operates. The students were able to watch the helicopter land and had a very interesting discussion with the doctor and paramedic who were on board. Volunteers explained to us how the charity works and what everyone’s donations mean to them. Did you know it takes £1 000,000 a month to keep the charity operational!
All the students represented Knightsfield beautifully and they are now hoping to deliver an assembly about this wonderful charity to the whole school in September.

Thursday 23rd May – London Central Mosque

On 23rd May, as part of their RE studies, pupils from Year 9 visited the London Central Mosque. They were given a tour of the Mosque and found the whole experience to be very interesting.

Wednesday 21st May  – Inclusive Job Fair

On 21st May, Year 10 students visited an inclusive job fair in Saint Albans. They improved their knowledge about  local employers and job roles available now. They talked to the representatives of such companies as XMA , Watford FC , McMullen’s HOP and Skechers. Well done!

Thursday 2nd May  – Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Temple

On Thursday 2nd May, our year 7 class enjoyed a trip to the Hindu Mandir in Neasden. This trip was to compliment the RE lessons in learning all about Hinduism.

After a very informative morning, they all enjoyed lunch and a play in the nearby park where even the rain didn’t put us off!

Wednesday 20th March – Voice in a Million, Wembley Arena

Out talented Knightsfield choir enjoyed a fantastic evening at Wembley Arena, participating in a school choir event VIAM 2024. School children from all backgrounds throughout the UK came together united in song to perform in front of their own family and friends in what has been billed as The World’s most spectacular school concert’! Eight pupils from Knightsfield took part in what was a truly memorable day!

Tuesday 27th February – Deaf England Secondary Panathlon Swimming Gala

We were delighted that two teams from Knightsfield School had the opportunity to take part in the Deaf England Secondary Panathlon Swimming Gala at the Aquatic Centre, Olympic Park in Stratford on Tuesday 27th February.  Pupils had a fantastic day at this prestigious event taking part in a number of races throughout the day. Twelve teams in total took part and Knightsfield were awarded 5th and 7th place. A huge congratulations to all pupils who took part, we are very proud of you!

Wednesday 7th February – Matilda, The Cambridge Theatre London

Pupils from across the school were fortunate to be able to go and see ‘Matilda the Musical’ at the Cambridge Theatre in London. A fantastic show and great preparation for Knightsfield’s own Theatre Week production based on the works of Roald Dahl.

Monday 5th February – WGC Synagogue

Pupils from Year 8 visited the Welwyn Garden City Synagogue as part of the RE studies. They had a very interesting and informative visit, enjoyed by all the class.

Tuesday 19th December – Pantomime, St Albans Arena

Pupils from Years 5-8 had a thoroughly enjoyable trip to see the Pantomime ‘Peter Pan’ at St Albans Arena. The students had front row seats and particularly enjoyed being part of the action!

Tuesday 28th November – Sri Singh Guru Sabha Gurdwara

Pupils from Year 8 had a very enjoyable and informative visit to Sri Singh Guru Sabha Gurdwara in Hitchin as part of their RE studies.

Tuesday 21st November – Computacenter

Pupils from Years 9 and 10 had a great morning visiting Computacenter in Hatfield. The students had a tour around the warehouse which contained 1600 pallets. They had a chance to talk to several staff members and learned more about the company, its brand clients and career opportunities.

Monday 6th – Friday 10th November – Caythorpe Court, Lincolnshire

Another successful week was had at Caythorpe Court PGL. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, trying lots of new activities and spending time with their friends. Here are just a few photos to show some of the things they got up to!
